Nexans secures BP’s West Nile Delta deal

ALEXANDRIA, September 17, 2015 – Cabling systems manufacturer Nexans have signed a contract to provide 48 kilometres of static umbilicals for BP’s West Nile Delta Taurus and Libra fields in Egypt.

The cables will be manufactured at Nexans subsea cable and umbilical facilities in Halden and Rognan, Norway. The umbilicals will be used to house fibre optic and electrical cables as well as hydraulic chemical lines.

 

“This contract forms part of the 10-year frame agreement Nexans concluded with BP to supply umbilical cables, DEH systems, accessories and services for various deep-water oil and gas projects across the globe,” Krister Granlie from Nexans Norway’s hybrid underwater cables division said in a press release.

The Taurus and Libra fields are located within the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deepwater concessions in the Mediterranean Sea, 65 kilometres off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt.
