Nigeria pipeline blast

Nigerian pipeline hit by second blast

WARRI, January 11, 2018 – A second explosion occurred on the Escravos-Lagos pipeline in Warri on Thursday, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said in a statement.

The statement followed reports of an explosion at a petroleum facility in the area. The NNPC has ordered immediate repairs to the pipeline and additional gas supplies from other regions to fill the gap.

Last week a fire on the pipeline cut off supplies to six Nigerian power plants, shutting down the national electricity grid. The NNPC had announced the resumption of gas supply Monday.
