Mozambique’s Coral Sul FLNG passes performance test

LEHIGH VALLEY, May 7, 2024 – Air Products’s LNG liquefaction equipment deployed on Coral Sul FLNG in Mozambique has successfully passed its performance test, Air Products announced on Monday.

The company’s proprietary dual mixed refrigerant LNG process technology (AP-DMR) has achieved LNG production of more than 3.4 million tpy.

Coral Sul FLNG is Mozambique’s first operating LNG project and the second-largest FLNG vessel in the world. It is deployed offshore in Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin in the Coral Sul field, which is estimated to hold reserves of 500 billion cubic metres of natural gas.

In addition to its AP-DMR technology, Air Products has provided two proprietary coil-wound main cryogenic heat exchangers to Coral Sul FLNG, one for precooling and one for liquefaction within the vessel.

Air Products has also supplied liquefaction technology to the Shell Prelude, Petronas FLNG Satu and Petronas FLNG Dua deepwater FLNG projects, as well as the Energía Costa Azul LNG land-based project in Mexico, currently under construction.
