Pirate attack attempted offshore Nigeria

LAGOS, February 23, 2018 – Six pirates attempted to board an oil tanker off the coast of Nigeria, international media reported Thursday.
According to the International Maritime Bureau report, the pirates arrived by speedboat and were armed with AK-47s. They attempted to hook an aluminium ladder to the tanker’s railing seven times and fired on the vessel before moving away. A Nigerian Navy vessel was dispatched to the location. The crew and vessel were not harmed in the incident.
