QatarEnergy awards North Field EPCI works

DOHA, January 4, 2022 – QatarEnergy has signed a contract with Houston-based engineering company McDermott for EPCI works on its North Field Expansion Project offshore Qatar, the state-owned energy company announced on Monday.

The North Field Expansion Project is divided between the two following areas: North Field South and North Field East.

 

McDermott is contracted to provide 13 unmanned wellhead platform topsides, eight for the North Field East development and five for the North Field South development. Additional works include pipeline infrastructure for the North Field East development, beach valve stations and associated buildings.

Jackets and pipeline infrastructure for the North Field South area will be handed out in a separate contract that is expected to be awarded in Q1 2022.

The North Field Expansion Project is expected to raise Qatar’s production of LNG from 77 million tonnes per year to 126 million tonnes per year by 2027.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.
