Qatar’s QP takes 30% in 12 Morocco blocks

DOHA, March 14, 2019 – Qatar Petroleum (QP) has entered into an agreement with Eni under which it will acquire a 30% participating interest in the Tarfaya Shallow Exploration Permit, which comprises 12 blocks offshore Morocco.

 

Following approval of the deal by the Moroccan government, the licence will be operated by Eni with a 45% interest, while remaining partners QP and Moroccan firm Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines will hold 30% and 25%, respectively.

Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs H.E. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, who is also president and CEO of QP, commented on the deal, saying, “This agreement represents another important milestone in our partnership roadmap with Eni, and further strengthens our distinguished long-term relationship with Morocco.”
