
Sempra expands US-Mexico wind farm
TECATE, February 9, 2022 – Sempra Infrastructure has completed the second phase of its US-Mexico cross-border wind farm in Tecate, Mexico, the LNG and renewables energy company announced on Tuesday.
The expansion of the Energía Sierra Juárez project added 26 new wind turbines with a total capacity of 180 MW, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 180,000 homes.
The second phase will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 170,000 tonnes per year.
The 263-MW facility provides electricity for the Californian energy market across the border.
