SLB launches Electris electric well solutions to boost recovery and cut costs
HOUSTON, May 6, 2025 – SLB has introduced Electris, a digitally enabled electric well completions portfolio designed to improve production and recovery while lowering asset ownership costs, the company said on Tuesday.
Electris completions allow real-time digital control of the productive wellbore area, equipping operators with continuous reservoir intelligence to enhance well management and tap into previously inaccessible reserves.
“Electris completions take reservoir management to the next level — making it possible for operators to get more out of their assets with fewer requirements for costly well interventions,” president production systems Paul Sims said. “With much of the ‘easy’ oil already produced, operators are encountering more and more complex reservoirs. Electris completions can help shift the production economics in these reservoirs — resulting in higher recovery factors that maximize return on investment from the asset.”
The technology has been installed over 100 times in five countries. In Norway, Electris completions were used in an extended-reach offshore well to enhance production. The system helps operators identify active production zones, reduce produced water and lower the energy required to handle reinjection.
SLB is a global energy technology company with operations in more than 100 countries. It provides technology and services for the entire oil and gas lifecycle, including exploration, production, and digital solutions to advance efficiency and sustainability in the sector.
