Subsea7 wins Shell contract for Trinidad gas project
PORT OF SPAIN, June 9, 2025 – Shell has awarded Subsea7 a contract valued at up to USD 150 million for subsea works at the Aphrodite gas project off Trinidad and Tobago, the subsea player said on Monday.
The scope of the contract includes the transportation and installation of subsea equipment at the Aphrodite gasfield located in Block 5a, at water depths reaching 290 metres.
Engineering and project management will commence immediately from Subsea7’s Houston office, with offshore operations scheduled for 2027.
“Engaging with Shell from the outset has been key to building trust and driving efficiencies. This award in Trinidad and Tobago reflects our growing presence in the region, as well as our ongoing commitment to safe, predictable project delivery while supporting local talent and resources,” Subsea7 senior vice-president for the Gulf of Mexico Craig Broussard said.
Shell reached a final investment decision on the Aphrodite project in early June 2025. The development, located in the East Coast Marine Area, is expected to produce first gas in 2027 with peak output projected at approximately 18,400 boepd.
Gas from Aphrodite will serve as backfill for the Atlantic LNG facility and supply the domestic market via the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
