ABERDEEN, March 27, 2023 – Tokyo Electric Power Company has unveiled plans to develop 1.9 GW of offshore floating wind capacity in Scotland, the Japanese energy giant announced on Monday.

The company is going forward with its Green Volt and Cenos projects along with companies Vargronn and Flotation Energy.

The Green Volt project is expected to come on line in 2028 and the Cenos project in 2030.

Energy from the projects will assist nearby oil and gas platforms and replace gas turbines.

In November 2022, Tokyo Electric Power Company announced plans to buy 100% stakes in British floating wind entity Flotation Energy for an undisclosed sum.

The Japanese company intends to develop between 6 GW and 7 GW of offshore wind and hydroelectric power by 2030.
