Trinidad eyes gas from Venezuela field

PORT OF SPAIN, January 23, 2019 – Trinidad and Tobago has set a 2020 target for first gas from the Dragon field offshore Venezuela, local media reported on Tuesday.

In August 2018, the two countries signed a deal that would see Venezuela ship Dragon gas to Shell’s Hibiscus platform offshore Trinidad.

“The next thing is to convert that into a gas supply agreement but to do that you have to get into some technicalities of the arrangements, financing, et cetera, and that is still being worked through at technical team levels,” Mark Loquan, the president of Trinidad’s National Gas Company, told local daily Newsday.
