Williams bags Whale contract in Gulf of Mexico

HOUSTON, August 5, 2021 – Williams Companies has signed a contract with Shell Offshore and Chevron for transportation and processing of petroleum for the super-majors’ Whale project in the Gulf of Mexico, the US energy company said on Wednesday.

The contract will involve natural gas gathering and crude oil transportation services.

 

Williams plans to build a 40-kilometre lateral gas pipeline from its existing Perdido gas pipeline to the intended Whale structure and a 201-kilometre pipeline from its GA-A244 junction platform.

Gas will be processed at Williams’ Markham onshore plant in Matagorda, Texas.

The deepwater Whale development is expected to begin production in 2024.

Williams currently owns and operates 5,630 kilometres of natural gas and oil gathering and transmission pipelines and has a fractioning capacity of 60,000 bpd.
