SINGAPORE, December 30, 2022 – Sembcorp Marine has successfully delivered the world’s second eighth-generation drillship to its subsidiary in Finland, the Singaporean engineering company announced on Thursday.
The ultra-deepwater vessel Deepwater Titan also holds the record as the first dual-derrick drillship with two 1,380-bar blowout preventers.
The drillship is based on the company’s Jurong Espadon 3T design, which includes the blowout preventers and well-control, riser and piping systems. It is intended for high-temperature and high-pressure drilling and completion work.
Additionally, the asset is capable of hoisting 1,360 tonnes through a hook-load system, drill up to 12,200 metres and operate in water depths of 3,660 metres.
The vessel is scheduled to be deployed in the US Gulf of Mexico on a five-year contract with Chevron in Q1 2023.
The move follows delivery of the world’s first eighth-generation drillship – the Deepwater Atlas – by Sempbcorp Marine in June 2022.
