GE latest firm to pick up Coral South work

LONDON, June 27, 2017 – GE Oil & Gas has been awarded a five-year subsea equipment supply contract associated with the Coral South project off Mozambique.

The company will be providing seven wellheads, a topside control system, three two-slot manifolds and seven Christmas trees. Rigid jumpers, support services and technical assistance also fall under the scope of the contract.

The deal was signed as part of GE’s long-term agreement with operator Eni, which also covers a separate, five-years aftermarket services contract.

“Coral South FLNG is the first major subsea development in East Africa and provides GE Oil & Gas with the opportunity to affirm our leadership in large bore technology and our standardised portfolio of subsea equipment and services for deep-water projects,” Neil Saunders, the company’s head subsea systems and drilling, said.

On Monday, Norway’s Aker Solutions was awarded a contract for the provision of umbilicals and other equipment. Under its contract with Eni, Aker will provide three steel tube umbilicals, each measuring more than 19 kilometres in length. The sections will connect the project’s FLNG unit to the subsea production system.
