Capacity of the Sitra Refinery:380,000 bpd

Storage capacity across the Sitra Tank Farm and export terminals: Over 14 million barrels

Bapco Energies is Bahrain’s national oil company, operating across the oil and gas value chain with a focus on refining and petroleum product marketing. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of nogaholding, the investment arm of the National Oil and Gas Authority, and plays a central role in meeting Bahrain’s domestic energy needs and supporting its exports.

The company’s operations are anchored by the Sitra Refinery, which was recently expanded to a capacity of 380,000 bpd. The modernisation programme has introduced greater refining complexity, enabling the production of higher-specification fuels and improved operational efficiency. The refinery is supported by integrated storage and export infrastructure, making Bapco a key supplier of refined products across regional and global markets.

Among Bapco Energies’ operating companies are Bapco Refining, which operates the Sitra Refinery and manages crude oil processing and refined product output; Bapco Upstream, which handles Bahrain’s oil and gas exploration and production activities, including operations in the onshore Bahrain field; and Bapco Gas, which is responsible for the collection, processing and distribution of associated and non-associated gas throughout the Kingdom.

Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company provides storage, handling and refuelling services at Bahrain International Airport, alongside BAC Jet Fuel Company, which owns and operates the airport’s jet fuel pipeline and hydrant systems. Bahrain LNG manages the country’s liquefied natural gas import terminal, supporting energy diversification and security of supply. Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, a major petrochemicals JV, manufactures ammonia, methanol and urea for international markets.

Bapco Energies’ strategic direction is shaped by Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, with a focus on operational reliability, environmental standards and workforce development. Key priorities include emissions reduction, digital transformation and improved energy efficiency. Through these efforts, the company aims to align long-term industrial growth with evolving energy and climate frameworks.
