
BHP, Pemex begin Trion appraisal
MEXICO CITY, November 20, 2018 – Super-major BHP Billiton and Mexican NOC Pemex have spudded the Trion-2DEL well at the deepwater Trion field in the Gulf of Mexico, international media reported Monday.
The appraisal well, being drilled with Transocean’s Deepwater Invictus drillship, is slated for completion in January or February 2019.
An investment of USD 11 million is required to reach full field development at Trion, which is estimated to contain 475 million boe in contingent resources.
The field is operated by BHP Billiton with a 60% stake, while Pemex holds a 40% interest.
