Dana Gas picks up Egypt offshore blocks

CAIRO, October 1, 2014 – On Monday, UAE gas company Dana Gas said that it has been awarded two onshore concessions in Egypt.
The first, North El Salhiya, Block 1, is solely owned by Dana Gas, while the second, El Matariya, Block 3, is a 50-50 shared venture with BP.
BP will fund exploration of Block 3 and if it is successful BP has the option to acquire up to 50 percent stakes in the adjacent development leases operated by Dana Gas.
This commitment to Egypt’s gas resources is a positive sign that international investors are willing to return to the nation.
