CAIRO, November 24, 2021 – Plug Power has been awarded a contract to provide technology for a planned 100-MW electrolyser to produce green hydrogen as feedstock for green ammonia production in Egypt, the American engineering company announced on Wednesday.

The project is run by Fertiglobe, a joint venture between Netherlands-listed OCI NV and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

The asset will be located in Egyptian Basic Industries Corporation’s facility in Ain Sokhna.

“At start-up, this will be the largest green hydrogen and largest green ammonia application globally,” said Nassef Sawiris, executive chairman of OCI NV.
