Eni to increase gas exports in Republic of Congo

BRAZZAVILLE, April 22, 2022 – Eni has signed a letter of intent to increase gas production and exports with the Republic of Congo’s government, the Italian super-major announced on Thursday.

The increase will primarily come through the development of an LNG project with a capacity of more than 4.5 bcm (159 bcf) per year.

Gas for the project will come from Eni’s Marine 12 block and be processed by two FLNG vessels. The development is expected to come on line in 2023.

The agreement also sets the partners to promote decarbonisation through development of renewable energy sources, biorefining, forest conservation, adoption of clean cooking systems and carbon capture and storage.

Eni also signed deals to raise gas imports from Algeria and Egypt earlier this month.
