Gas supply through ELP restored: NNPC

ABUJA, January 9, 2018 – Gas supply though the Escravos-Lagos pipeline (ELP) has been restored, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation announced Monday.

Last week, a gas pipeline fire cut off supplies to six Nigerian power plants, shutting down the national electricity grid.

”With the restoration of the ELP and resumption of gas supply, the affected power plants, with a combined generating capacity of 1,143 MW, would resume power generation,” the NOC statement said.

NNPC said last week that the pipeline fire was suspected to have been caused by a bush fire.
