Lundin spuds Malaysian well

KUALA LUMPUR, November 9, 2015 – Lundin Petroleum has spudded an exploration well on Block PM308A offshore Malaysia, the Swedish upstream independent announced Monday in a statement.

Lundin has started drilling on the Selada-1 exploration well targeting the Miocene sands, which are located 14 kilometres south of the oil-producing Bertam field.

The well, which is being drilled by the jack-up rig West Prospero, will last for about 30 days with a targeted total water depth of 1,700 metres.

Lundin has a 75-percent interest in the block alongside Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petronas holding 25 percent.

At the end of October, the Swedish company announced that it had made a small gas discovery in the Bertam field’s Mengkuang-1 exploration well in licence PM307.
