Wärtsilä to provide equipment for LNG vessel

AMSTERDAM, November 9, 2015 – Wärtsilä will provide propulsion services to supply power to a new LNG bunker and feeder vessel that is being constructed for the joint venture Sirius Veder Gas AB, the Finnish marine services provider announced Monday in a statement.

 

Under the terms of the agreement, Wärtsilä will supply at 6-cylinder, 34 dual-fuel engine that is able to run on LNG or diesel. The company will also provide its Airguard aft seal, which will allow for zero emissions from the vessel.

“Bunkering and feeder vessels such as this one are also increasingly taking advantage of our proven technology. This extensive experience adds tremendous value as it allows us to provide expert engineering and project support to the yard, which importantly saves time and reduces risk,” Göran Österdahl, general manager of Wärtsilä Marine Solutions, said in the company statement.

The Wärtsilä equipment is slated for completion by 2016 and the vessel is scheduled to be delivered in February 2017.
