Petrobras has been involved in a historical corruption scandal that has led to major investigations.

Petrobras selects new ombudsman-general

BRASíLIA, November 13, 2015 – Brazilian oil giant Petrobras has selected its new ombudsman-general as the company looks to strengthen its governance, in the face of a major corruption scandal that has rocked the country.

Mario Vinicius Claussen Spinelli, a professor with experience at the local government level, was one of several candidates chosen by international executive recruitment company Korn Ferry.

 

The national oil company’s audit and remuneration and successions committees went over the list before making their recommendations to the board.

Spinelli is a civil servant at the Office of the Federal Comptroller General, working in the state of Minas Gerais and holding a number of positions, including secretary for strategic information and the prevention of corruption. He was also responsible for the restructuring of the municipal ombudsman as comptroller general of São Paulo.
