TotalEnergies leaves US deepwater play

USA

NEW ORLEANS, February 10, 2022 – TotalEnergies has withdrawn from the deepwater North Platte field development on the US’ Gulf of Mexico, the French multinational energy company announced today.

TotalEnergies held a 60% operating stake in the North Platte field, with Norwegian E&P company Equinor holding the remaining stakes.

The company has informed its partner that it will not be making its final investment decision on the play, which was expected to take place in 2022.

Development of the field would have been highly specialised given its ultra-high water pressure.

A unique semi-submersible production unit was to be used to handle production of 75,000 bopd.
