Gazprom Neft Badra hits milestone

MOSCOW, March 28, 2017 – The Gazprom Neft subsidiary charged with developing Iraq’s Badra oilfield, Gazprom Neft Badra, on Monday announced a production milestone.

The field, located in Wasit Province, has produced its five-millionth tonne of oil, the Iraqi unit said. The volume equivalent to 36.65 million barrels was produced over a period of two and a half years.

Since the start of this year, Gazprom Neft Badra produced 5 million barrels of oil, which translates to 58,139 bopd. The field’s 14 production wells – four were added earlier in 2017 – now produce 80,000 bopd.

“The Badra project is going according to plan, and it’s clear that the infrastructure necessary for increasing oil production is already in place. Badra is Gazprom Neft’s first project abroad, and one of our most successful major projects. Field infrastructure continues to expand, and is, already, now a major production complex, unique to the region,” Gazprom Nefts director of major projects, Denis Sugaipov, said of the milestone.

According to the company, work on gas infrastructure is ongoing. Pipeline connections, electrical fixtures and automatic control systems are being installed, with pre-commissioning of the field’s gas-treatment plant underway.

Phase 1 is expected to be commissioned before the end of Q1, while phase 2 is slated for Q3.
