Iguana gasfield nears first gas

PORT OF SPAIN, December 15, 2016 – The Iguana gasfield offshore Trinidad and Tobago will begin producing gas within 15 months, local media reported on Tuesday.

Citing the Certificate of Environmental Clearance submitted by operator of blocks 1(a) and 1(b) DeNovo, the Daily Express said first production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. The timing was corroborated by a communique circulated by the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Chamber among its members last week.

The Iguana gasfield was found in the shallow water blocks purchased by DeNovo in April 2016 as part of Centrica’s divestment of Trinidadian assets. One of three gas discoveries made in the purchase area located off Trinidad’s west coast, the Iguana gasfield is expected to produce 2.5mcm (90 mcf) per day by 2018.
