Marathon reserves capacity in IEnova terminal
TOPOLOBAMPO, October 24, 2018 – US-based Marathon Petroleum has signed a deal with Mexico’s IEnova to reserve 500,000 barrels of storage capacity at the Topolobampo refined fuels marine terminal, the energy infrastructure company announced in a statement on Tuesday.
Marathon will use the terminal to import refined products from the USA and distribute them throughout Mexico’s western coast. Through a deal made in September, Chevron has reserved the other 50% of the terminal’s 1-million-barrel storage capacity.
IEnova was awarded a 20-year build-own-operate contract for the USD 150-million terminal in July, and expects to bring the facility on line by Q4 2020.
