The LNG leader

QatarEnergy LNG gas is the largest producer of LNG in the world, boasting a 77-million-tonne-per-year nameplate liquefaction capacity. The company’s ventures include eight LNG projects, two sales gas production facilities, two condensate refineries and two helium production facilities. The company also owns a fleet of Q-Max, Q-Flex and conventional LNG vessels.

  • Expansion: QatarEnergy LNG will add four LNG trains by 2024, increasing total liquefaction capacity to 110 million tonnes per year.
  • Merger: The 2018 union of QatarEnergy LNG and Rasgas placed QatarEnergy LNG in charge of the country’s entire LNG output.
  • Name change: In September 2023 QatarEnergy LNG changed its name from Qatargas.

The QatarEnergy LNG companies are joint ventures between QP, ExxonMobil, Total, Marubeni, Mitsui, ConocoPhillips and Shell. QP owns a majority stake in all Qatargas projects.
