Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC) is the NOC of the Republic of Congo, responsible for managing the State’s interests across the oil and gas value chain. Established in 1998, SNPC serves as the technical arm of the State and holds the national oil industry database. Structured as a Group, SNPC is active throughout the hydrocarbons value chain through six subsidiaries involved in upstream and downstream activities, including:

• SONAREP: National research and production company
• ILOGS: Integrated logistics services
• SFP: Petroleum drilling company
• CORAF: Congolese refining
• SNPC Distribution
• SNPC Trading

SNPC holds a broad and evolving portfolio of upstream assets across both onshore and offshore acreage. The company operates and partners in multiple exploration and production permits and participates in joint ventures with national and international companies. Its upstream activities span exploration, development and production, reflecting its central role in managing Congo’s hydrocarbons resources.

SNPC has developed a Gas Master Plan in collaboration with Wood Mackenzie to optimise the utilisation of the country’s 412 bcm (14.5 tcf) of in‑place gas resources. The plan supports gas monetisation, domestic power generation, industrial development and investment attraction, and underpins the country’s broader gas policy objectives.

As a key player in the energy transition, SNPC contributes to national energy independence, food security, value chain development, carbon credit opportunities, environmental impact reduction, job creation and specialised training.

The company’s Performance 2025 Program, which ran from 2022-2025, was a corporate transformation initiative focused on strengthening growth, improving operational efficiency, optimising costs and reinforcing governance. The outcomes of the programme are informing SNPC’s next phase of strategic development.
